Biography

George Frideric Handel was a Germanborn Baroque composer who became the dominant musical figure of 18thcentury England, reshaping opera and oratorio through his dramatic genius and prolific output. His masterwork Messiah, composed in merely 24 days in 1741, became a cultural phenomenon and remains one of the most performed works in history. Handel's ability to blend Italian melodic sophistication with English sensibility made him a bridge between Continental and British musical traditions.
